Producer Notes

Carl Axel Janson
The Janson farm is a family farm which started in 1941 after the departure from Sweden of the founder, Carl Axel Janson.
However, it was the sons of Carl Axel Janson: Carl, Michael, Ricardo and Peter, who in 1989 founded Janson Coffee.

Janson Coffee notably owns two plantations located on the Talamanca mountain range on the flanks of the Tizingal and Barù volcanoes. In order to obtain greater quality traceability, but also to have greater control over their grains, Janson plantations are managed in batches. The vision of the Janson brothers was to have a quality production, respectful of the environment, using neither pesticides nor herbicides. The farm also works the soil with enzymatic micro-organisms to compensate for the use of toxic products and the plantations are surrounded by forests which serve as natural barriers against diseases and protect the surrounding fauna and flora. Janson Coffee is also partly solar powered with 400 solar panels managing energy for the farm. All the raw materials resulting from the transformations are reused in fuel or fertilizer and the water from their source is that used for their wet treatments. Janson Coffee is a farm very committed to improving and protecting the environment, but also to setting an example for other coffee farmers.

Today, it is the same vision shared by Kai and Janette Janson, of the second generation, a vision of a coffee farm that respects the environment, quality, innovation and family.
